Associate Professor Tran Thi Thanh Tu and Dr Nguyen Hong Thuy had visited Melbourne and Sydney for conducting seminar and in-depth interviews on “Women empowerment in corporate governance – a comparative study between Australia and Vietnam”.

From 4 to 13 July, under the support from AUS4skill project funded by the Australia Embassy, Associate Professor Tran Thi Thanh Tu and Dr Nguyen Hong Thuy, Alumni of Swinburne Technology had visited Melbourne and Sydney for conducting seminar and in-depth interviews on “Women empowerment in corporate governance – a comparative study between Australia and Vietnam”.

Associate Professor Tran Thi Thanh Tu, Dean of Finance and Banking, on behalf of research team, presented the results of studying from Vietnamese case studies in 3 provinces: Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa and Lang Son in the last 3 months. The findings focused on the success factors as well as barriers for businesswomen in Vietnam. The research team suggested some recommendations to empower women role in business and society. The open discussion was opened for echanging ideas, comments and sharing research results from PHD students and lecturers from Swinburne Business School.

 

During this visit, the research team had an opportunity to discuss with Professor Malcolm Abbott and his colleagues on research collaboration in the near future. As an expertise in renewable energy economist in Australia, Professor Malcolm has been consultant for Argentina Government and Victoria State. He has collaborated with research team on corporate governance in banking since 2017. The International Conference will be hosted between VNU-UEB and Swinburne Business School in the next year.

 

The two Dean also opened discussions on the collaboration on Master’s in international accounting with Swinburne Technology University and Doctor in Finance and Accounting with Latrobe University when working with the representatives from the two Universities.

The last working days had been paid for interviews with experts, professors and CEO in business under the support from Sydney Business School and Sydney Southeast Asia Center. The findings and sharing from these in-depth interviews were such valuable and interesting for the research team to finalize their comparative studies.
