Assoc. Prof. Tran Thi Thanh Tu and Prof. Richard D. Beason in VTV program “Internationalization of education”
Internationalization of higher education is understood as the highest phase in international relation between universities, which is a trend of development at universities in the world and Vietnam. Determination to perform internationalization of education has been reflected in policies of Party and Government on fundamental and comprehensive education and training reform. Internationalization of higher education has great contribution in raising the quality of global learning experience, promoting integration process of Vietnamese higher education institutions within the region and the whole world that can support the potential career for students.
As statement made by Assoc.Prof Nguyen Truc Le, Rector of VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB-VNU), education internationalization is a strategic guideline of the university, which has been performed by cooperation programs between UEB-VNU and universities in many advanced countries in the world. The university has appreciated the great effort of The Faculty of Finance and Banking in inviting foreign professor for long-term cooperation over 1 year. The visiting professor is Prof. Richard D Beason, Director of International Cooperation Board in University of Alberta, Canada, who has accepted the invitation from Assoc.Prof Tran Thi Thanh Tu, Dean of The Faculty of Finance and Banking, and also the leader of strong research team in VNU University of Economics and Business.
As an example of successful cooperation activity between Banking – Finance faculty and Prof. Richard D. Beason, Assoc. Prof. Tran Thi Thanh Tu and Prof. Richard D. Beason are invited to share their collaborating experience in program “Internationalization of education” recorded by VTV, Vietnam Television. In this program, Mrs. Tran Thi Thanh Tu emphasizes the benefits of the cooperating activity with professors from high ranking institutions and the exchanges programs that have been done by the Faculty and UEB-VNU such as enhancing the students’ foreign language capacity and professional knowledge, improving students’ soft skills and confidence that help them to work well in an international environment. In addition, the international cooperation programs also support the lecturers at UEB to improve their teaching and researching ability because the research activities taken by the foreign lecturers and lecturers of UEB. Regarding to foreign lecturer, Prof. Richard D. Beason shows his satisfaction with the students in UEB because of their English capacity as well as their hard working attitude. He also appreciates the enthusiasm and the support he has received from the lecturers and officers at the university.
